The Star Interview [Endless positivity – Son Dongwoon] TS: How does it feel like doing activities as a group in such a long time? Dongwoon: I cannot stop smiling. Even though it’s tiring, everyone’s spirit/vigor is overwhelming just like our debut period so it is fun. On the other hand, I’m sorry seeing the looks of our fans who like us and only get to see our stage after a year. TS: I know why you are so positive. I’ve received some information, it said you’re working on some six-week miracle project? DW: It is to transmit positive (energy) to a (designated) member each week. We get to sleep only one to two hours while doing activities, so how tiring is that. Isn’t it that if there is at least one person that positive energy is transmitted to, somehow/at sometime the members, and the staff as well, will be able to become happier. When you think positively, the color of your face starts changing. If through the strength of positivity, it will be good if after six weeks everyone became happier. TS: At the showcase this time round, the members chose Dongwoon as the member who grew the most. Personally, in what aspect do you think you received the highest marks in? DW: The greatest opportunity for me to grow, I think it was the musical. While doing the musical, I think I found my path in singing. There is no better practice than the actual (show/deal). Originally, when I sing, my condition is very inconsistent, but these days, the gap between times when I do well and when I can’t do well, it is closing up. I’m not trying to show off, but I have found my own way. (laughs) TS: That’s so on stage; have you found your composure and stability in daily life too? DW: There is no spare time, but I’m working hard to find spare time. After all, even if I’m impatient, the problems will not just resolve sooner. Whether I’m impatient or mellow, the world just spins as it is. If that’s the case, then I will be resenting the world which isn’t changing. I intend to spend my time well within the 24 hours given. TS: So when you really have spare time, what do you do? DW: When I have some spare time, I practice the piano. Whether it is pop song or otherwise, I don’t differentiate; I print the scores of the songs I like and when there’s time, I play them. TS: You’ve lots of skills. This time round on “Happy Together”, you showed us Namshin Noodles is creative too. Usually do you like shocking adventures? DW: Not shocking/unconventional, though I don’t like safe things either. Honestly, when working in the entertainment circle environment, one who likes safe things will not be able to endure it. I don’t think of it that way, but when I’m with my normal friends, I hear many comments that I’m unusual. TS: After returning to school, seems like you’ve heard quite a bit. This term, since you’re doing activities, you probably can’t attend school much. DW: It is quite a worry. There are many overseas activities. Somehow it will work out right. As long as there is positive strength. TS: It was interesting hearing about the episode that fans only wanted your schoolmate, Lee Jongsuk’s, signature. DW: Eh.. but that’s a sad episode. TS: Hahah. Having watched an old show program of you saying that you’ve the most celebrity-like mask, I thought of you as one who had many talents; now seeing you in person, you’ve lots of wit. But do you really think of yourself as “Namshin”? (i.e. male god) DW: Yes. What do you think after seeing all six of us in person? My thought is right, right? Hahah. TS: It will be good if there are more chances for you to show your talents. DW: If there are more chances, I’ll do it. If there are none, I’ll collect them and show them all at once the next chance. I’m not impatient. I’m younger than the others by two years, so I have more time in that sense. My solo activities will become important when I turn 30 or 40, but if I were to choose between solo or group, I want to choose one that gives everyone strength. Even though that, I’m not one without greed. TS: So, to close off, if you could press “LIKE” for a member? DW: Doojoonie-hyung. He is one who lowers himself and respects the other party. Even if he gives advice, (he does it in a way) I can understand and accept; he takes on all the difficult tasks as well. When everyone is exhausted, he doesn’t show it and finishes off his task. In such aspects as a leader, he does it hundreds, thousands, of times. -nabi-
