The Stillaguamish Tribes Natural Resources Department is partnering with USGS to test juvenile wild chinook for exposure to toxicants following the March 22 mudslide in Oso, Washington. Each week, fisheries technicians sample five juvenile chinook collected in the tribes smolt trap downstream from the slide. The chinook livers will be tested for toxicants and compared to baseline data the tribe collected in 2012. The tribe also is sampling the water for toxicants at four places along the Stillaguamish River.
