The Story of the Golden Buddha is a metaphor for uncovering the Light within that has been covered by programming. We believe we are the cover and not the Light within, until one day, something cracks our casing. Injury, Divorce, Illness, etc, knocks off some of our armor, and only in that moment do you get to look inside and see the Gold. THEN, the moment you see that Gold, the armor will never satisfy you again. You then embark on the Heros Journey and all you want to do the rest of your life is keep chipping away at the casing, because the Gold is so much more fulfilling. :) This is from Finding Joe, a documentary about the Heros Journey as explained by Joseph Campbell.
