The Straits Times 12 May 2014 New prescription for pharmacists training It was reported that a revamped curriculum for pharmacy students will kick in at NUS this August, which will allow students to start practising their trade sooner. Students will have to undergo only three years of lectures, which will be supplemented with a year of experiential learning, including a project and a six-month internship at facilities such as hospitals, community pharmacies or pharmaceutical companies. The revamped curriculum was announced by Health Minister Gan Kim Yong on 9 May, at the sixth annual pharmacists pledge affirmation ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Gan lauded the profession for supporting the Health Ministrys Healthcare 2020 initiative, and noted that NUS has been expanding its intake of pharmacy students and is on track to eventually producing 240 pharmacy graduates per year to meet the national demand. news.asiaone/news/edvantage/new-prescription-pharmacists-training
