The Study of Science. The decline in the number of students - TopicsExpress

The Study of Science. The decline in the number of students studying Science is indeed a matter of great concern. Not only do students acquire the cognitive skills to provoke thoughts so that they can think objectively but it also provides life-long knowledge of the self and the environment around us. we all need to know about our anatomy, about the reactions that occur, about the daily chemicals that we use, about the types of medicines that we require when we are sick. We all should be able to connect a 3-pin plug or change a simple fuse in our house. Without Science, the society will be lagging behind and we shall not be able to cope with development and research at Tertiary Level. Without Science, our Universities will never be able to get a good ranking. We are still very very far with a rating of over 1000. Without the production of good research projects which can get international recognition, this rating or rank will not be improved and it cannot be attained without Science. Just making an appeal to opt for Science will not be enough. If we want to forge ahead, then we have no other option than to impose compulsory Science up to at least Form V or SC level.
