The Successful Actor is a Working Actor Getting “discovered” - TopicsExpress

The Successful Actor is a Working Actor Getting “discovered” or being a “star” is a dream of many starting out in the acting profession. For some, achieving stardom is the only acceptable measure of having “made it in the biz.” Given the quirky and personal nature of the entertainment business, where talent alone doesn’t always count, actors who hold such notions are often disappointed . Moreover, these actors have limited their opportunities for success by narrowing their views about what it means to be successful. I view success very differently. It is not whether you achieve celebrity status within your chosen profession that determines your professional success. Success is being able to make a living doing what you enjoy. Success is being able to make a living doing what you enjoy. Success is being able to earn an income by doing what makes you feel passionate. Success is making a living by doing what you love. If we apply this idea of success to the acting profession, a successful actor is a working actor, one who loves to perform and is able to make a living from performing. If you accept my notion of success, as I hope you do, there are many opportunities to work and know success as an actor. “If you work at what you love, you are successful.” Sue Porter Henderson mariacappactingstudio
