The Sun is shining on a chilly fall Oklahoma Morning, 53° at 0845, with the wind coming out of the northeast. Already had 2 cups of coffee and ready for a third one, one of these days I will get some sleep but until then there is coffee!! Need to fire up the mower and mulch some leaves but figure it will be a never ending chore. That is the only thing wrong with fall, the beautiful colors on the trees become the nasty brown leaves on the yard! They are not a foot deep yet so perhaps the wind will clean them away. Halloween is this week, time for the ghosts and goblins to invade the area looking for the treasure of candy. Been a long time since I went trick or treating, 45 years in fact. The last time I went trick or treating I was a SKSN on Naval Station Midway Island! Land of the Gooney Bird, and beautiful white sandy beaches! Halloween 1969, a friend and I decided to go to dependant housing and trick or treat with our drink glasses, at first it was just folks we knew, SK1 Evans, AKC Sparks, two of our division officers and then it was WTF and we hit a few more doors. We would knock and someone would answer with a bag of candy, and we would hold out our glasses saying “Trick or Treat!” It went quite well, sometime being invited in for more than one drink, including our last stop, Our Control Officers house where we spent a couple of hours being people and friends not Officer and Seamen! I always liked Ensign Walashin, he was a great officer and a good guy at the same time! This Halloween the kids will do Trunk or Treat Downtown, and if they want they can go to a few houses, but Mom is not going with them. We have not decorated a bit this year, and do not expect any visitors, I will get a couple bags of candy in case, and for the grand Kids and then Friday I will get the leftover candy on sale for our kids Amanda and I.
