The Sunday Gospel for 12-21-2014 (4th Sunday of Advent ) We are now focusing on JESUS which is the theme of our reflection. In the gospel, we are brought back in the House of David but in a humble setting. We have a simple woman in Nazareth named Mary (engaged to Joseph who is a carpenter) where the Angel Gabriel appeared to bring a message of assurance that she has found favor with God. She was called just like any prophets of old and she has a mission. A mission that through her the SON of the Most High GOD will be born through the POWER of GOD. Now, Jesus, fully human: born of human parents and also experiencing our humanity and with a definite line which is the House of David. The expectation of Israel with Gods revelation was surpassed. It was not just a human king but the very own Begotten Son of God who took a human form. With the birth of Jesus, the Kingship of David has become now a House of God in the lowly house of a lowly couple: Mary & Joseph. The chosen WAY by God to rule is that of HUMILITY, HIDDENNESS, SIMPLICITY. This story of the Birth of JESUS is for all and for all ages. Let us now be like Mary, who is the new ark of the covenant.
