The Sunday Rant - A preacher once said if there is a time in the past when you felt closer to God, that should scare you to the bone. I know it scares the hell out of me. Because there is a time in the past when I felt closer to God than I do now. I went to church, I studied Bible, I worked with Sunday School. Somehow I drifted out of that. I miss it very much. I can tell that I am not as close to God as I was in the past. Its scary. Ive been looking for a place in Gods church. I thought I had one but that fell through. Im still looking. I havent lost faith in God. Thats the one thing that keeps me going. The Creator has a master plan. Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with me that I cant get back to that place? Am I a work in progress? Is this my wilderness to wander? Am I on the anvil? Am I being pounded into a sword or a plow? I keep thinking this is the time to start changing the world! The Creator has a master plan. I just want to do His will. My desire is like the song from the 1971 musical Godspell by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak. Great song for its simplicity and clarity. Lord, I want to live like that. Ive done it before. It breaks my heart not being as close as I was before. Draw me closer. Set your hand on me and push me down the path you have set for me. Make me into the implement of your will on earth. Amen. I know Im not the only one who feels like this. Its a New Year! We can fix this! I will not waste time fretting over what could have been. We can be the person God made us to be. It is never too late to start changing the world!
