The Sunnah of Eid Al-Adha All praise is due to Allah, and may the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon the Prophet Muhammad 1. Doing Ghusl(Taking a Shower/Bath) It is highly recommended, before going out to perform the Eid prayer to make Ghusl. 2. Eating after the Eid prayer The Prophet would not eat until he had returned from the Salah (Prayer) and he would eat from his sacrifice. 3. Takbeer on the day of Eid This is one of the greatest Sunnahs on the day of Eid because, Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “(He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allah [i.e. to say Takbeer (Allaahu Akbar: Allah is the Most Great)] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him†(Surah 02. Al-Baqarah, Verse 185) In the case of Eid al-Adha, the takbeer begins on the eve of the Eid day (10th of Dhu’l-Hijjah (at Magrib time) and lasts until the last days of Tashreeq (13th of Dhu’l-Hijjah). 4.
