Avoid eating beforeEid Salah on the day ofEid ul Adha and to eatan odd number of datesor anything sweet onthe day of Eid ul Fitr9. To go to the place ofEid Salah early10. To walk to the placeof Eid Salah (If it iswithin walking distancebecauseevery step isreward)11. To read aloud“Takbeerat” on theway to the place ofprayer for Eid-ul-Adhaand silently for Eid-ul-Fitr:“Allaahu Akbar AllaahuAkbar Laa ilaahaillallaahu Wallaahu Akbarwalillaahil hamd”.12. To use differentroutesto and from theplace of Eid Salaah13. To frequently readthe takbeers (Loudly forEid Ul Adha and softlyfor Eid ul Fitr)14. To pray the Eid-Ul-Fitr prayer later and theEid-ul-Adha earlier.15. To read two rak’ahsWaajib Salaatul Eidainwithout any Adhaan orIqaamah16. It is forbidden topray Nafil prayer beforeor after the prayer.17. To read the tworak’ahs Nafl prayer onreaching home.18. During Eid Salaah, inthe first rak’ah,Rasulallah would reciteSurah Ala (no. 87) andSuratul Ghathia (No. 8 inthe second rak’ah.19. Reciting these Sura’sin the Eid prayer shouldnot be regarded asobligatory for otherSura’s may also berecited.20. When Rasulallahcompleted the prayer ofSalaatul Eidain he wouldstand facing the peoplewho were seated intheir rows and deliver akhutba issuinginstructions andcommanding them to dogood. If he intended tosend an army he did soand likewise issued anyspecial orders he wishedto.21. The Khutba wasdelivered after the EidSalaah22. During both thekhutba’s of EidRasulallah used to recitethe Takbeeratfrequently23. The khutba of bothEids are Sunnah but tolisten to them is Waajib.It is totally prohibited(Haraam) to walkaround, talk or evenread Salaah whilst thekhutba is in progress.24. To shake hands andhug one another onhappy occasions isMubaah (permissible).The general principle ofa Mubaah act is not toregard the act ascompulsory as thatprojects a wrong imageof Deen. Furthermore,people should not regardthe meeting on the dayof Eid as compulsoryand an inseparable partof the occasion.(SUNNATS, Mufti E. M. H.Salejee pg 89, 90)25. The greeting on Eid:Jabyr ibn Nufayr said:When the companionsof Allahs Messengermet on the day of Eid,they would say to eachother, Taqaballahuminna wa mink (MayAllah accept from usand you).
