The Supreme Court of the United States has proven itself to be one of the greatest threats to participatory democracy. We currently have five Justices who have decided that corporations and the wealthy deserve more political power than the rest of us. There must be a mass movement to protect the processes and structures of participatory democracy in our society, or we will truly become the corporatist oligarchy that Abraham Lincoln feared so much. I fear for my country more than ever today.
