The Supreme Court’s ruling in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby undermines - TopicsExpress

The Supreme Court’s ruling in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby undermines women’s health, sanctions discrimination and takes our country backward. Withholding coverage for birth control is dangerous and just plain wrong. But in a sharply split decision issued this morning, the Supreme Court ruled to allow some bosses to deny women coverage for something as basic as birth control. Mark my words: This fight isn’t over! The National Partnership is working with our allies in Congress and the administration to address this egregious intrusion into the personal lives of women and preserve the federal contraceptive coverage rules that the National Partnership fought so hard to include in the Affordable Care Act. We need to raise an additional $10,000 for our Fight Back Fund in the next 24 hours to fund our work to undo the damage of today’s ruling. Please send an urgent $10 donation today! As Justice Ginsberg said in her dissent: ‘“Working for Hobby Lobby or Conestoga, in other words, should not deprive employees of the preventive care available to workers at the shop next door …” We could not agree more. Birth control is basic, essential health care for women. And no woman should be denied coverage for birth control because of where she works. Period. We will not rest until every woman in this country has coverage for the birth control she needs. That’s why we need your support now more than ever. Please donate $10 right now to help us reach our goal and fight back!
