The Swan House has nothing to do with the Atlanta History Center - TopicsExpress

The Swan House has nothing to do with the Atlanta History Center EXCEPT that it is RUN by the AHC and is on the same property. Or, I should say, the AHC was built on the Swan House property. The Swan House was built in 1928 by Edward Inman and his wife after their children had left home, so it was just a little town house that they stayed in during the season of balls and societal obligations on the Atlanta society scene during the Depression. Inman died 3 years after they moved in, but his wife lived there until her death in 1965, along with her oldest son and his family. This house rivals, in terms of furnishings and wall and door carvings and treatments, many of the castles and palaces we saw while in Europe, albeit on a much smaller scale. And except for a few rooms upstairs, there was nowhere in the house that we were not allowed to go, even without a tour guide. Shocking! But that place is gorgeous!!! BTW, MANY weddings, photo shoots and even MOVIES have been filmed there, including the latest one, The Hunger Games.
