The THREE keys to Arsenal success this season What would be the three key aspects to a successful season for Arsenal? There is this new, fresh hope surrounding Arsenal Football Club, after they ended their 9-year trophy drought by winning the FA Cup this past May. The hope is that, having got a breakthrough, the Gunners can start piling up their Trophy cabinet again, after years of famine. And, the intent is certainly there for everyone to see. However, once the season kicks off, Arsenal will be put through a litmus test, by a host of competitors in Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool – who have also strengthened their respective squads with players, who they think will make them stronger than before. And that is the reason why it is not as easy as it looks for Arsenal to be champions of England, again. But, what would be the three key aspects to a successful season for Arsenal? If Arsenal have to push for the Premier League title, a good start to the season is imperative. And, a good start has to happen with the new signings clicking into gear from the off. So the duo of Sanchez and Debuchy will have to live up to the aim, with which they were brought to the Emirates. When you sign new players, it is not given that they would perform their roles perfectly, from the off, at least. And, Arsenal would be hoping that is not the case with Sanchez and Debuchy. Last season, Ozil started off well, before going off the boil and never quite returned to his full potential for the rest of the campaign. However, Ozil will be the pivotal to Arsenal’s ambitions this upcoming season. There’s no doubting the fact that the Gunners have added depth to their squad, and that will be handy, after injuries to Walcott, Podolski and Ramsey single-handedly impeded Arsenal’s title-charge last term. But it is equally important that the core of their squad gets down to business and starts producing positive results from the outset. Secondly, Arsenal have to get their priorities spot on. Yes, there need not be any shortage of ambitions, which are the ultimatum for any Premier League club of the stature of Arsenal. But even then you want to plan and prioritize one or two of the four competitions you would be part of, over the 10 month period. Even Real Madrid, with the kind of squad they have at their disposal, struggled to continue challenging Barcelona and Atletico Madrid for the league title. And it was due to their colossal squad, that despite being stretched, they managed to win the Champions League final in extra time against Atletico Madrid. So I would think Wenger has to prioritize the league and concentrate on winning one of the two domestic cup competitions. Champions League, at this point of time, would be a bit too far for Arsenal’s capabilities, and they would be right to aim for domestic glory, by winning the Premier League, this season. Thirdly, they will have look after the core of their squad very well, so that they remain injury free for the entirety of the campaign. Any great squad with depth will be challenged when you have to compete in four competitions, and it’s no different in Arsenal’s case. If the likes of Ozils, Ramseys, Walcotts and Sanchezs can stay injury free, you would think that there’s every chance of Arsenal challenging for the Premier League this upcoming season, and even winning another domestic cup competition, which would make it a successful season for the Gunners. Can we do it? Yes we can!
