The TORNADOS wheelchair basketball are coming to Horsham - Its good to see HDC supporting this. repost from Horsham District Council: Come and have a go at wheelchair basketball THE TORNADOS wheelchair basketball team will be coming to Horsham later this month to play in a demonstration game and to provide some coaching tips to young people. The launch session on Thursday 30 January from 6:15pm to 7:30pm at Collyer’s College in Horsham will kick off a new six-week Sportivate Wheelchair Basketball course for those who enjoy the first session. People aged between 11 and 25 are welcome to come and have a go at the sport and no experience is necessary, with people of all abilities welcome. Wheelchairs will also be provided for people to use and experienced support workers will be on hand to work alongside the coaches Louis Power, Dominic Evans and Emily Jones, which will enable parents/carers to take a break if required. Following the launch session a six-week course will begin on Thursday 6 February and run until Thursday 13 March at Collyer’s College. It costs £24 for the six-week course, or £18 for people with a Leisure Access Card, a free card for Horsham District residents on a low income. Cllr Sue Rogers, Horsham District Council’s Cabinet Member for a Safer and Healthier District, said: “This is a great opportunity for young people to come and try a new sport, it’s open to wheelchair users and non-wheelchair users so come and have a go and learn from the professionals! To book a place on the course, visit the Council’s website (horsham.gov.uk/leisure/11243.aspx) and follow the instructions.
