The Taoists of ancient China believed in the existence of energy - TopicsExpress

The Taoists of ancient China believed in the existence of energy called “Ch’s.” they believed it flowed through the universe and through invisible energy lines in the human body and organs (called meridians). There is considerable superstition, and animism, or fear of spirits of the water, trees, mountains, etc. Ancestor worship and veneration are included, along with Feng Shui, divination and prophecy. This energy was claimed to be controlled by the in and the Yang, the two opposing yet harmonizing forces which take the forms of positive and negative, light and dark, male and female, good and evil, etc. if an imbalance should occur with this energy flow, illness will result. The use of acupuncture has been claimed to correct this imbalance, as have massage and the various zone therapies. The concept of energy is the basis for most of the “Alternative” or complementary therapies today. There is no independent scientific verification that such energy flows exists, but there is plenty of evidence which points to a psychic/occultic basis to it.
