The Tasmanian House of Assembly unanimously requested its speaker to write to Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Julie Bishop MP, urging her intervention to secure the timely release of a Greenpeace activist from Russian pre trial detention. The activist voluntarily took part in a green peace protest and was arrested. Greenpeace has a budget of almost half a billion dollars a year, and is backed by worldwide activists network that receives $1.7 billion just from USA funders alone. So why is Tasmania or Australia wasting taxpayers’ funds when clearly Greenpeace and the environmental movement can hire their own lawyers?
