The Tausugs of the Sultanate of Sulu Darul Islam (SSDI) welcome with thanks all the sincere advices of benefactors, supporters and friends towards the attainment of peace and stability in the region. What they cannot readily accept is the suggestion for them to accept "autonomy" which has not been working and do not seem to work for the good of Muslims and Lumads in Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelago since 1976. Thirty six (36) years of fruitless waiting for the proper implementation of any of around half-a-dozen Peace Agreements is long enough. Although the Tausugs do not want to return to the battlefields, by embracing non-violence, to achieve their inalienable rights to national self-determination and independence, for the time being, does not mean they will accept just about any settlement proposed to them that carry no grain of salt. They are however begging the international community not to teach or force them to resolve problems through the barrel of the gun. For if the non-violent approach so much desired by the international peace-loving community will not work in their favour, they can always resort to their usual specialty - that of driving away colonial enemy from their territory through unconventional means..!
