The Temple of Amun - a brand new, completely spontaneous - TopicsExpress

The Temple of Amun - a brand new, completely spontaneous improvisation for my wonderfully archaic African arched harp, which exactly like the ancient Egyptian shoulder harp of the New Kingdom some 3500 years ago, had a leather soundboard with the strings attached to a wooden beam running directly below the skin... This improvisation features an amazingly mystical mode, known as one of the Hijaz modes in the Middle East, the Ahava Raba mode in traditional Klezmer music and was known in ancient Greece as the Chromatic Dorian Mode (which can be heard in a section of a surviving fragment of ancient Greek music by Mesomedes of Crete, circa 130 CE called Hymn to Muse) - what we have lost in modern Western music with our relentlessly monotonous, stagnant, standardized palette of either major or minor scales! https://youtube/watch?v=oWabmtZj4YI
