The Testimony of God Posted: 22 Jun 2013 01:00 AM PDT “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life” (1 John 5:11, 12). A testimony is just a statement of fact or truth. During criminal trials, the judge, attorneys and jury want to hear the plain truth. A trial is not a place to spin yarns or tell tall tales. A testimony should be the truth and nothing but the truth. Because of this, witnesses are sworn in, whereby they swear or affirm, under penalty of prosecution, to tell the truth. God cannot lie. His very character is truth, righteousness, holiness and justice. When God gives a testimony, you can believe it. His testimony is always true. And he has given testimony. John recorded God’s testimony; His record for all to see. What is God’s testimony? He gave four statements of absolute truth: God has provided eternal life. This eternal life is only in His Son, Jesus Christ. Those who receive His Son have life. Those who do not have His Son do not have life. Eternal life does not come to you because you live well or act right; it is not received because you serve God or mankind; it comes only according to God’s testimony; it is in Jesus. If you have Jesus, you have eternal life. If you have not received Christ, you do not have eternal life. Believe, accept and place your faith in the testimony of God. Make sure you are trusting Christ. He is the only Savior, and that is what God testifies. [email protected]
