The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department is deeply saddened to report the loss of one of our own. K-9 “Zorg” passed away Sunday evening from natural causes. He was 10 years old. Zorg began his service with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department in October of 2005, where he was assigned as a patrol K-9 to Officer Jeff Savage, who proved to be a great asset in tracking suspects, clearing buildings, and conducting article searches. Throughout his tenure with the department, Zorg excelled in the area of narcotics detection and was responsible for numerous narcotics seizures. In one traffic stop alone, Zorg, along with partner Officer Jeff Savage, seized $220,000.00 worth of marijuana. In September of 2012, Zorg retired due to medical issues. He lived with his family, Jeff, Meta, Amber and Lexi until his time of passing. Zorg held a notable career and proved himself not only a valuable asset to the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, but also as a trusted companion to his handler. Zorg will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at East Memorial Gardens on Monday, April 7th at 10:00am. This service is held in a special area near the front of the gardens that has been designated only for police K-9s. The ceremony is open to the public as we all pay tribute to Zorg’s service with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department.
