The Tisha BAv fast is now behind us, and it is high time for me to respond to the many who read distorted versions of what I had written to PM Netanyahu on Friday. This all began when a Hamas spokesman accused me of writing that I wish to put the Gazans in concentration camps. Could it be that the Hamas, Daily Mail and the many Jew and Israel haters who inundated this page with anti-Jewish and anti-Israel epithets are upset that I did not suggest doing to Gaza what the British did to Dresden? Or the Americans to Hiroshima? Why does my proposal to give 8 hours to civilians who want to save their lives and escape - in addition to providing them with basic infrastructure in a safe place - make them so angry? Could it be because inherent to this simple and humanitarian proposal is the will to defeat the Hamas instead of perpetuating its rule? Why does a proposal to shell an empty city and save the lives of countless soldiers - and the enemy as well - awaken Nazi associations?
