The Tongue either excels you or detroys you. All perfect praise - TopicsExpress

The Tongue either excels you or detroys you. All perfect praise and adorations be to Allaah; Jalla Wa alaa. We beseech His Peace and Blessings upon the Noblest of Mankind (alayhi ssolaatu wassalaam). Many of the muslims today are found using what Allaah entrusted upon them especially their tongues in manner which they desire despite the great warning of the Prophet regarding this creature of Allaah(The Tongue). In the hadeeth of Al-Imaam Abul Husayn Muslim; the Prophet said when speaking to Muaadh Bn Jabal that: Indeed Allaah does not punish a slave for shedding tears upon a calamity but He verily punishes this(pointing to his tongue). Verily Allaah informs us of His curse upon every slander and backbiter in suuratul Humazah; and we understand from the scholars of tafseer that the cause of this punishment for these two people is nothing but their tongue. It is reported from Ibn Abbaas(radiyaLloohu anhu) in the Saheeh of Al-Imaam Muslim that the Prophet passed by the two graves and informed the companions of the punishment of the inhabitants of the two graves; he later said regarding one of the inhabitant that the cause of his/her punishment is that: he/she always goes about slandering people. (May Allaah save us). We all know about Firawn; apart from his arrogance; one major thing that also brought destruction upon him was the freedom he gave to his tongue. Allaah says in suuratu Nnaazia that: Then he said I am your lord the Most High Then Allaah took hold of him(with His punishment) for his(Firawn) previous and latter statements. Moreso; in the mutuun of Al-Imaam Aboo Zakariyya Ibn Yahya An-nawawee; it is reported that the Prophet(sollaLloohu alayhi wasallam) said: Part of the statements of the past prophets which the people have neglected is that: If you do not feel shame; then act as you like Indeed we understand that people are known by two things majorly: their statements and actions. And this is why the Ulamaa has based the definitions of Eemaan upon these two things Statements and Actions. The tongue in Allaahs masheeha has been given the attritute of statements. So a muslim should watch closely what he/she desires to utter. This is why the Prophet(alayhi ssolaatu wassalaam) warned against freeing the tongue to speak as it desires when he(sollaLloohu alayhi wasallam) said: Whoever believes in Allaah and the day of reckoning should say what is good or remain silent. Brethren! Shame is lost when the tongue is freed. And the Prophet warned stating clearly that: Bashfulness is from Eemaan. Therefore; how do we attest to your eemaan when your shame is lost by you freeing your tongue!!! Beware of your tongue oh slave of Allaah. As it either contribute more good or more evil to the pages of your books of deeds. #Be_careful.
