The Town of Woodstock Water and Sewer Department along with the assistance of the Streets Department has completed the installation of 485 feet of 12 inch water main on Meghann Dr. connecting W. High St. and W. Spring St. The addition of this water main to our distribution system provides greater pressure and flow for domestic use and fire suppression. Believe it or not, this improvement was designed to provide better water availability in the area of Wal-Mart and Lowes. Initial testing indicates that the new connection improved water availability by eight to ten percent. In the process of this installation Public Works personnel verify the depth of the underground utilities and completed the process of installing the pipe. The water line was encased with stone and then personnel used a trench compactor for proper compression and support of the street so it does not settle. This will stabilize and ensure the integrity of the street. The Streets Department then put asphalt over the the area that was disturbed for the installation.
