The Toyota Corona (Japanese: トヨタ・コロナ) T100 series, 1973-79 The first generation Corona (T10), introduced in May 1957. The 11th and final generation (T210) was introduced in 1996 with production ending in 2001. As with the previous Corona (T80/90) the T100 was offered in 2 and 4 door sedan, 2 door hardtop coupé and 5 door van (station wagon). Chassis codes 100-105 were reserved for sedans, with 106-109 for vans, the 110-115 was for the hardtop coupé while 116-119 was for the wagon versions. Engines for base models were al SOHC and started with the 2T, 1.6 (56kw) up to the 19R, 2.0 (64kw) with the high performance 2000 GT Sedan and Hardtop Coupé with 18R-G twin cam, twin carb engine producing a healthy 107kw (145ps) While most 18R-Gs had a head designed and made by Yamaha, a very few had Toyota heads. Yamahas tuning-fork logo can be seen on the Yamaha heads. Except for the head and related timing components, most parts were shared or interchangeable with the SOHC 18R. Combustion chambers were hemispherical. Transmissions were equally varied including 3 speed (column shift), 4 speed, 5 speed floor shift manuals and a 3 speed floor shift automatic. In 1978, for Japan only, the T100/110 series was given a mild facelift to resemble the T130 and then sold alongside the T130 series as the T120. The T100 series of Corona has long been the forgotten or neglected JDM Chrome from the Toyota range but it is fast gaining popularity and becoming a rare find in good, unmolested condition.
