The Trefael stone is now believed to be a capstone which would have once been supported by a series of upright stones forming a Neolithic burial chamber, probably a portal dolmen, one of Western Britain’s earliest burial monument types. It has over 75 cupmarks / cupules (the round indentations added by humans, part of a universal global pattern. What i am wondering is if these marks may be even older than the dolmen; maybe the stone was on the landscape long before being raised as a capstone.
