The True Meaning of Christmas At Christmas when I was 14, - TopicsExpress

The True Meaning of Christmas At Christmas when I was 14, my mama had a great idea. She decided that we would surprise my stepdad by buying him a boom box. Now this might not sound like much to you, but, if you had known him and in that time period, it really was a big deal to us. Anyway, she bought the stereo and we (the kids) bought him cassette tapes of Hank Williams Sr., Bill Monroe and others to complete the gift. Then the big day came and I remember us all being so excited and anxious to give it to him. And the build up was nota waste. When he unwrapped it, his whole face lit up and he began to cry tears of overwhelming joy. He said it was the first real Christmas gift that anyone had ever given him. It was so emotional that I cried too. After that, he enjoyed many hours of listening to his music. Well, shortly after all of this brought joy to us our family, trouble struck that removed him permanently from our lives. We found out that he was undeserving of our love and our gift. As the years went by I tried to reconcile my feelings of love, gratitude and unity I had for him with the anger and malice that had replaced it. And over and over each Christmas that year always hung over my head like a cloud; until this year when God allowed me to see that just like that boom box, we all received a Gift that first Christmas that we did not, and in fact, never will deserve. His name is Jesus. But, He knew ahead of time that we werent worthy. And yet, He still anxiously awaits our acceptance of His gift. So, next year when youre debating about whether or not that person on your Christmas list was naughty or nice, maybe you should first think about where you stand on His. Just a thought. God bless and Merry Christmas.
