The Truth The Scripture says, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” Notice it says “make?” There is a reason why this word is in the statement. We human beings don’t like change. We don’t like our choices questioned and our institutions attacked. Truth reveals those things we have hidden in the darkened corners of our lives because we are ashamed and don’t want to be embarrassed by past practices. Did anyone notice today, that the Scottish people voted against their independence from England. One of the most brutal invasions of a country was perpetrated by the British Empire and thousands of Scots were murdered. Obviously, the English government’s effort at assimilation and the effects of hostage syndrome have worked. The majority of Scottish people voted against their freedom choosing to remain loyal and dependent upon their oppressors. I say this because the pattern and effort is already working among our Native relatives here. The Scots have clans and their clan structures are not all the different from ours, but somehow through the years of the occupation by a foreigner the devotion to being a Scotsman is waning. How long will it be before no one in Scotland will remember what it is to be a clansman? Among our Native populations the amount of transition from a commitment to our traditions and culture is falling by the wayside as our people adopt western practices and loyalties, just like the Hebrew captives did in Egypt who began acting and thinking like Egyptians. When freedom stood before them there were those who said they preferred the leeks and onions in captivity in Egypt than the quail and manna fed them from heaven and their freedom. If we think the threat is not real we have only to look at the decision made recently by the majority of Scottish people choosing dependence rather than independence. The word “sovereignty” is being floated around. The question has been asked us to define what we believe sovereignty is. I shared that I believe true sovereignty is the life we lived in the year 1491 and before. This was before Western Civilization (oxymoron) came and tried to exterminate us and then brainwash us all. I listened to some of the ideas and realized that many people don’t know what sovereignty is. The used car salesmen have come and we are nearly ready to purchase their product, except in this case we are going to be willing to sell our freedom.
