The Truth about Elijah and his message. Why is it important to know and understand who Elijah was and what he did and will do in the future?. For those who do not know, the term Jew refers to Judah or southern kingdom of israel (the land), these are the recognized jews of today, while the term israel refers to the lost tribes who were scattered. 1Ki 15:1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam the son of Nebat, Abijam became king over Judah. during this time there were two kingship in a divided Israel. that of the house of Israel under an Ephramite (northern kingdom) King named Jeraboam and another in the south for the House of Judah named Abijam, who died and his son Asa became King, 1Ki 15:9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa became king over Judah (jews). the story continued that Asa followed after David and was a good king. 1Ki 15:11 Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did his father David. 1Ki 15:12 And he banished the perverted persons from the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers (Abijam who was evil in the sight of God) had made. 1Ki 15:13 Also he removed Maachah his grandmother from being queen mother, because she had made an obscene image of Asherah. And Asa cut down her obscene image and burned it by the Brook Kidron. so for 40 years Israel had a righteous King like David. They turned from idol worship and tree worship. then the Northern Kingdom got a new king who fought against the Southern king Asa. 1Ki 15:16 Now there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days. 1Ki 15:17 And Baasha (ishaccar) king of Israel came up against Judah, and built RAMAH, that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah. -Keep Ramah in mind... Northern israel. (Jer 31:15 Thus says the LORD: A voice was heard in RAMAH, Lamentation and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children, Refusing to be comforted for her children, Because they are no more. ) another topic 1Ki 15:28 Baasha killed him in the third year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his place. 1Ki 15:29 And it was so, when he became king, that he killed all the house of Jeroboam. He did not leave to Jeroboam anyone that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according to the word of the LORD which He had spoken by His servant Ahijah the Shilonite, 1Ki 15:33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha the son of Ahijah became king over all Israel in Tirzah, and reigned twenty-four years. again we see the passage is plain as day...two kingdoms, one for the Jews and the other for israel or the House of Israel. so we have Baasha, Elah, Zimri, Omri, then finally AHAB became king over Israel. yes Ahab the same one married to Jezebel, the same jezebel who Elijah the prophet went up against. Yes....are you seeing it now. it was the House of Israel that Elijahs message was for. 1Ki 16:30 Now Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD, more than all who were before him. 1Ki 16:31 And it came to pass, as though it had been a trivial thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took as wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Sidonians; and he went and served Baal and worshiped him. 1Ki 16:32 Then he set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. 1Ki 16:33 And Ahab made a wooden image. Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him. the influence of the Sidonians creeped into the already false teachings of the House of Israel and idolatrous worship of pagan gods. Elijah curse over the house of israel 1Ki 17:1 And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word. -no rain -droubt, no food 1Ki 18:2 So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab; and there was a severe famine in Samaria. 1Ki 18:3 And Ahab had called Obadiah, who was in charge of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly. 1Ki 18:4 For so it was, while Jezebel massacred the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah had taken one hundred prophets and hidden them, fifty to a cave, and had fed them with bread and water.) here we see the evidence that it was in fact the House of Israel that were the ones who were bent on killing prophets by obeying a Woman and the manless king Ahab. during this time Judah is Honoring God and keeping His commands, no need for a prophet. 1Ki 18:18 And he answered, I have not troubled Israel, but you and your fathers house have, in that you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD and have followed the Baals. Israel following other gods besides YHVH. this story now becomes critical.. Elijah does something remarkable he announces to all the people how long will you be between two opinions? the same opinion of today is jesus god or YHVH? 1Ki 18:21 And Elijah came to all the people, and said, How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him. But the people answered him not a word. the Jews only follow YHVH, while the lost sheep wherever they may be as christians, muslims or any other religion are stuck with the opinion of worshiping other masters (baal) vs the God of the covenant. Elijah takes the 12 stones representing the 12 united tribes, then he builds an alter before the God of the covenant. he has all the prophets of Baal pray out to their savior baal who doesnt answer them. 1Ki 18:25 Now Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, Choose one bull for yourselves and prepare it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it. 1Ki 18:26 So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, O Baal, hear us! But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made. 1Ki 18:27 And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened. no answer......from the false gods... Elijahs turn 1Ki 18:31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD had come, saying, Israel shall be your name. 1Ki 18:32 Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed. 1Ki 18:33 And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said, Fill four waterpots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood. 1Ki 18:34 Then he said, Do it a second time, and they did it a second time; and he said, Do it a third time, and they did it a third time. 1Ki 18:35 So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water. 1Ki 18:36 And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. God listens only to the voice of Elijah and Elijah does something no other prophet after him has done. He changed the hearts. 1Ki 18:37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that You are the LORD God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again. Elijahs message to turn the hearts back to God again. Now we have a contradiction with the NT. the claim is that john the baptist was Elijah, however when looking at the context of Elijah in this passage and in Malachi 4 we see that a curse is pronounced if Elijah fails his mission. that day in the northern kingdom of israel Elijah humiliated the gods of the nations and turned the house of israel back to YHVH and his laws; that was his message and still is the future message before the anointed one. Mal 4:4 Remember the Law of Moses, My servant, Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, With the statutes and judgments. Mal 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. Mal 4:6 And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse. in conclusion how in the world could john be Elijah.. johns own words.. Joh 1:21 And they asked him, What then? Are you Elijah? He said, I am not. Are you the Prophet? And he answered, No. if this is true and john claimed he was not Elijah...poor guy was beheaded for no reason. but wait no prophecy about Elijah dying because in Malachi YHVH is actually there on the scene and israel does turn and every false teaching is exposed.
