The Tulsa world reported today a story of how the wrongfully convicted in Oklahoma rarely receive compensation. Wrongful convictions and over charging take a huge toll on the accused as in the case of Oklahoma Exonerated Greg Wilhoit and Ron Williamson and many others. The book An Innocent Man is about Williamson. The Innocent Project has helped exonerate hundreds of people wrongfully convicted. Wrongful Convictions and Overcharging should not happen in a Country that claims to have a Just Judicial System. One of the most televised cases of an alleged attempt of a Prosecutor to a convict someone in what many believe to be charges brought wrongfully is that of the Black Artist Michael Jackson. Not only was this a case of overcharging which was proven in court, the tabloid media misreported what really took place in the courtroom in an attempt to convict the accused in the public eyes. This could have destroyed this wealthy artist career and did affect his ability to obtain sponsors. The day Michael Jackson was exonerated on all charges he had to be taken to the hospital because he was dehydrated and the false allegation took a mental tool on him. His case proves Wrongful charges can happen to the wealthy and famous, but happen at a higher rate to the poor, black and white people who cannot afford effective counsel. The difference is the Mass Media is not concerned with making profit from stories about the the average persons case. Mad Dog Sneddon had been successfully sued for Malicious Prosecution by an attorney Gary Dunlap. Multiple lawsuits had been filed on him by others for malicious prosecution. There are books that detail the fact that very few prosecutors ever are disciplined in these type of cases.
