The Twelve Days of Muskies - Day Four There are too many big fish stories to include them all from this past July but here are some tales about some tails more than worthy of your cyber time. The Polish Hammers are two of my favourite guests and we have fished together for many years now. When the two big boys from Jersey first showed up they were green and green people just turn greener when giant fish that chase their baits to the boat swim away. Turning follows into pictures is mostly the domain of the experienced. Every year the boys have gotten technically better and this past year it all came together. Richard and his brother Henry had the trip of a lifetime, and if you dont believe in the power of the moon, here is evidence from the super moon this past July. After a 5-fish opening day and an appropriate Polish celebration involving copious amounts of many good things, we had a predictably slower paced yet still productive second day. The three horses all came on day three, confirming that, yes indeed, the Ottawa River is a place of dreams..... The Immortal Kim Mitchell would have summed this weekend up with his classic rock line; alka seltzer, tang, and a 50, its all over, HANGOVER. Next, fellow Shimano/Loomis/PowerPro/Jackall field rep Wally Robins showed up to get a birthday musky and we ended up with five including another 50. Yup, Heres to you Mrs. Robins son...... One of my favourite stories of the summer involves the father and son musky rookies of Randy and Tyler. Tyler could not have been a more polite or hard working young man and he was losing hope after watching his dad land his first 3 muskies. With the sun sinking low in the sky Tyler got his fish of dreams and all was right in the world. There is no better Christmas gift than to give someone a great day in the outdoors and a chance to hunt the biggest muskies in the world. If you get the the 24th and dont have the perfect gift yet, drop me a line and I can help you out. chimo, JA -- John M.
