The U.S. Government is “we, the people”, while Congress and - TopicsExpress

The U.S. Government is “we, the people”, while Congress and the President are merely elected representatives. Thus, I am upset by the Senate changing the voting rules to exclude the votes of our duly elected representatives. After signing his acclaimed health bill into law, I am angry that the President alters the touted law to exclude select groups and that he delays select implementation dates, at his whim. Where is equality under the law? It is not right, if not illegal, for the President to rewrite law to suit his ease or pleasure; changes to the law require approval of all representatives of the government “we, the people.” As the President is not faithful to or respectful of his oath of office, with its limits and responsibilities, it is also criminal for Congress not to live up to their oath of office. They are not standing for the responsibilities of their elected positions. Instead of adhering to the Constitution, the President and Congress are solely interested in their reelection and that of their political dictators. The Constitution, government (we the people) and equality under the law are being trampled by politicians. Submitted to the Monterey County Herald - March 12, 2014
