The UK could be plunged back into the dark ages of 1970s power cuts - that was the warning last week from National Grid. It said blackouts were a possibility this winter as spare electricity capacity had slumped to around 4% due to power station closures and breakdowns. The South West has traditionally had one of the lowest levels of power generation in the UK - importing most of its electricity from outside the region. So how vulnerable are we?
