The UN has called for $6.5 billion in aid for the Syria crisis, - TopicsExpress

The UN has called for $6.5 billion in aid for the Syria crisis, the largest ever appeal for funds. This underscores the scale of the crisis. Britain has pledged an additional $164 million, Norway $75 million and Kuwait gave $500 million. Australia, under the Coalition, has pledged just $12 million to the largest crisis appeal in the history of the United Nations. This contribution does not reflect the scale of the humanitarian disaster facing Syrians or Australia’s generous tradition. Read my opinion piece below on the urgent need for humanitarian aid in Syria and the region.
