The US Chamber is pro-immigration? Thats a warning sign. So big - TopicsExpress

The US Chamber is pro-immigration? Thats a warning sign. So big business wants immigrants for cheap, non-union labor? Is that what is going on? Obama has always been pro-big business. I wonder if he was being sincere about sending the kids back immediately. Same with Ms. Clinton (also pro-big business). Its not just agri-business that wants undocumented workers in the U.S.. The construction industry, hotel industry and restaurant industry wants them, too. Many industries want them, because it means more profits for the fat cats. Beginning around 2005, more Mexicans were returning to Mexico than were coming into the U.S. Most Americans were not aware of the change, but Im sure the business industries were. From the Congressional Research Service: Mexican migration flows have declined since 2006, and recent data from multiple sources show a net rate of unauthorized migration fluctuating near zero, with some evidence that more Mexicans are leaving the United States than arriving, particularly unauthorized Mexicans.35 In addition to these short-term factors, lower Mexican emigration rates also may be a function of long-term demographic trends, as Mexico’s fertility rate has fallen from an average of 7.2 children per woman in 1960 to about 2.2 today.38 Thus, while emigration from Mexico may increase with U.S. economic growth, some analysts doubt that future flows will reach the high levels observed in recent years because many fewer Mexicans will enter the workforce and because Mexico is becoming an increasingly middle-class country.39 Why not allow the Central American immigrants to stay here temporarily, while supplying aid and advisors to their home countries? They could return to their home countries once its safe to do so. That would mean big changes for U.S. corporations in those countries, though. And, the U.S. would have to stop meddling in political affairs of other countries. Itd be a tough sell when our government isnt even providing jobs programs here to stimulate the economy (Eg. New Deal type programs). Might take five years to accomplish, but at least they could return to their homes. And U.S. workers wouldnt be victims of the race to the bottom. Americans want to work and are willing to relocate, but the jobs must pay living wages. Especially considering how high rent and utilities cost in the U.S. But U.S. industries prefer undocumented workers willing to work for less than prevailing wages while sharing a hotel room with 4-5 other workers and no benefits. Eg. post Katrina New Orleans Just guessing that big business is playing a part in the current flood of immigrants, but more and more we have to look at the big picture... I know the 1% is doing so. Maybe they are just hoping to cash in on the humanitarian crisis. ~~~ With financial help from the pro-immigration US Chamber of Commerce, potential GOP presidential hopeful Marco Rubio even recorded a television advert in which he endorsed Gardner in Spanish.
