The US Foreign Legions training and HQ world is called Chauncy, stated in-universe to be named after a white cat. This is the actual Chauncy. I first met him in 03; he was my roommates cat at the time. We eventually got evicted, his original owner was kind of a jerk and Id mostly been taking care of him by then anyway, so I took him with me. Chauncy was an awesome cat. When he met his first ever dog, new roommates cocker spaniel easily twice his size (although he was a big bastard, for cat), he was 17. Dog outweighed him at least 2:1, he didnt give a shit; went straight into attack mode against the very confused dog. (They eventually settled on a compromise, in which Chauncy would stick his nose into the dogs bowl while she was eating so that he could nom, and the dog would surrender.) Chauncy was an awesome and legendary cat, and his spirit lives on. (Therell eventually be a Legion book named Home of the Legion, set mostly/entirely on Chauncy. Yeah, need to finish Legion 2, Honor of the Legion, before I think too hard about whatll likely be 8 or 9. Been distracted lately by a new WIP called Desert Strike. Grr.)
