The US State Department released the annual “Country Reports on Terrorism 2012” report on 30 May 2013, with a Statistical Annex prepared by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), at the University of Maryland. The Regional Studies Center (RSC) works with START as part of our RSC Iran Project and related to our work in support of Armenian border security and our broader regional proliferation analysis. Most notably, the report cites a new trend of a sharp increase in “Iranian state support for global terrorism, to a level not seen for two decades,” marked by a “resurgence of Iran’s state sponsorship of terrorism” through Iran’s “Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-al Quds Force (IRGC-QF), its Ministry of Intelligence and Security, and Tehran’s ally in Lebanon, the Hizballah movement.” For the full report, go to: state.gov/j/ct/rls/crt/2012/210017.htm
