The US education system could use some work, but to think we can - TopicsExpress

The US education system could use some work, but to think we can simply replicate the system of more successful countries (e.g. Finland) and expect immediate success is a grave oversimplification. In the words of educational expert Dr. Pasi Sahlberg, education ministries should not be "shopping around the world" for the best strategies, because educational policies are "very bad travellers." Rather than importing the most successful model, the US should prioritize aligning the incentives and motivations of parents, students, teachers and government.
