The US government is constitutionally mandated to defend our country. Without adequately funding our military, we can expect emboldened enemies to see the obvious and attempt to take advantage. This is common sense. If there is one issue that makes me a Republican and not a Libertarian-- this is it. Even many so-called Republicans these days seemingly forget that we are still at war with people who are non-state actors and who are as determined as they were on September 11th, 2001, to kill the infidels. Our world is MORE dangerous today than it was then. (And, one reason for that is the perception around the world that we are weakened, or at least, lack the political will to support allies or stand against ongoing threats.) If there is ANYTHING our government should do it is to defend us and ensure our sovereign rule of law. The militarys mission is to do just that-- to uphold and defend our Constitution. Write/email/call your congressional delegation and tell them to stop playing with our safety and FUND OUR DEFENSES.
