The US is clearly seeking to divide Iraq and Syria by breaking/ weakening the national armies and taking direct control of arming/ training sectarian/ ethnic groups to act as the US boots on the ground!! In 2003, we had the US supporting the marginalised Shiia majority against Saddam Hussain.. Today, using the threat of the IS, the US and its NATO allies are DIRECTLY arming the Kurdish Peshmerga and promising to directly arm the marginalized Sunni minority (as well as the Yezidis)!!.. Same policy was followed, in Syria!! In 2012, the US led NATO/ GCC declared their support of the marginalised Sunni majority against Bashar alAssad by funding/ arming/ training the alNusra/ IS led FSA.. And today, using the threat of the IS, the US and its NATO allies are DIRECTLY arming the Kurdish YPG in Kobani and reportedly promising the Kurds autonomy in return for their coordination with the US led Coalition and for helping protect the Christian minority against the savage terrorist groups they unleashed in Syria- in the name of the Arab Spring!!!
