The US is cutting off production of Tomahawk Cruise Missiles even though the replacement, the Cruise Missile XR, wont be ready for another ten years. Fortunately, we have about 3,000 Tomahawks in the inventory. The old and slow Tomahawk is a work horse but is vulnerable, as this article indicates. Whether its advisable to cease production of Tomahawks, which are mainly launched against countries with primitive air defenses, is debatable.
