The USD 457 Board of Education met on Monday, October 6th, and recognized Hannah Schultz, student at Garden City High School, for her outstanding show of sportsmanship at the Great Bend Cross Country event to aid another student during the event. Abe Hubert Elementary School did a building presentation. Janie Perkins, Supplemental Coordinator, and several teacher presented how ESL is interconnected with learning. Dr. Darren Dennis discussed the Rose Standards and how they fit in with the Kansas College Career Ready Standards. The election of Lara Bors as a delegate and Dr. Gloria Hopkins as an alternate delegate for the Kansas Association of School Board’s Delegate Assembly on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the state convention in Overland Park. Dr. Atha presented new and revised policies: Special Education Services (NEW); Section 504 Accommodations for Students (NEW); and Title I Programs. No action was taken on the policies.
