The Uhuru Academy is the first and only AFRIKAN Centered Action School in Fort Worth! We are an advanced institution of learning designed to aid our children in reaching their ultimate potential. We are the only school in this city, and only one of four in Texas that teaches our history before slavery. We receive no government funding and yet weve added a theater arts program, a music program, and a STEM program to our curriculum in just the past month. Were developing a model and methodology for establishing, maintaining, and expanding Afrikan centered schools using the resources that are already available to us in our community. Uhuru Academy is proof that it can be done! Our community partnerships span the entire spectrum of Black life, and the outpouring of support from our people has been tremendous!! Our vision goes beyond one school, we are in the process of building school systems that will empower our children to facilitate our survival and our cultural, economic, spiritual, and political resurgence worldwide.
