The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with - TopicsExpress

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) poses serious threats to American sovereignty and the decision-making rights of ALL parents. The content of the Convention is VERY troubling, beginning with the fact that it includes no definition of “disability.” Instead, disability is described as “an evolving concept,” leaving the door open for this treaty to touch the lives of more and more unsuspecting Americans. The treaty also replaces parental rights with the “best interest of the child” standard, which makes government actors, and not parents, ultimately responsible to make final decisions in the care of any child. So this is really a critical issue for all parents--not just those with severe or physical disabilities. All disabilities of any kind, all childrens health and lives ultimately can be affected by the erosion of parental rights and centralized government control--UN Convention control about what is best for YOUR child.
