The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme has organized consultations to explore how volunteerism can be given more visibility during the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. On 28 August, Brazil’s National Volunteer Day, the 2016 Olympic Games Volunteer Recruitment website was launched. Anyone interested can volunteer to share their skills and meet people from all over the world: rio2016/en/organising-committee/volunteers People can register to become volunteers for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, from 28 August to 15 November 2014. Up to 70,000 volunteers will be placed in two categories: Generalists (no specific qualifications) and Specialists (knowledge of sports, languages, technology or medical services).
