The United States has always enjoyed its uniqueness as a sovereign nation. Unlike the Magna Carta where the king granted some rights to the people, our Constitution granted specific rights to the government. The Framers did this because they knew, keenly, that our rights came from God and not from government. The tyrannies that our Founders suffered through led them to realize that governments existed to protect our God-given rights, not to dictate them or infringe upon them. And they further understood that we were entitled to sovereignty – or freedom from outside control. The preamble to the Declaration of Independence is about dissolving ties with a tyrannical government but it is also about sovereignty. It sets the stage for one of the world’s most impressive documents. It says: When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with one another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God entitle them… (emphasis added) Source: conservativenewsandviews/2012/03/06/constitution/sovereignty-fire-treason-disguised/
