The United States has asked Athens to park a fleet of UAVs - - TopicsExpress

The United States has asked Athens to park a fleet of UAVs - better known internationally as drones - in Greek territory, namely Crete... Washington appears to exert strong pressure on the Greek government to decide whether to accept or not the request for parking UAVs initially for a period of six to 12 months. It is indicative that they wanted to close the deal by early June, but this was not possible. The move is part of the U.S. strategy to combat Islamic terrorism and asymmetric threats arising from widespread instability in the Southeast Mediterranean... However serious reservations are expressed about whether Americans will park drones in Greece for such a short period of time, or if they seek a more permanent presence - something that seems almost certain.
