The United We Stand Festival, hosted by Free & Equal Elections - TopicsExpress

The United We Stand Festival, hosted by Free & Equal Elections Foundation, is moving to Los Angeles and has been rescheduled for the Fall of 2013. The festival was previously scheduled to take place on June 22 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Most of the speakers and performers previously scheduled for the Little Rock event are confirmed for Los Angeles. Christina Tobin, Founder and Chair of Free & Equal, says the move was prompted by the need to provide a larger venue and accommodate additional sponsors and artists who want to participate. "There has been an outpouring of support and interest in this event," said Tobin, "By moving to Los Angeles we will be able to bring on even more A-list talent and reach a wider audience in keeping with our mission to spread electoral reform to all fifty states." In addition to the upgraded venue, Free & Equal plans to live-stream the entire festival online and is currently seeking a partner for cable broadcasting. The United We Stand Festival is designed to support grassroots efforts to bring independent candidates into the political debate while generating awareness about issues otherwise marginalized by traditional Left-Right politics. The festival will include performances by several well known musicians. Notable guest speakers include former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, Dr. Jill Stein, the 2012 Green Party candidate for President, and popular independent media personalities like Ben Swann, Josh Tolley, and Amber Lyon, to name a few. "This festival will be the kick-off event for a peaceful, powerful and positive movement," said Tobin, "We will ignite a true grassroots effort to break the stranglehold of the two-party system. We intend to reform the US electoral process once and for all. This festival is the beginning of the solution to the political status quo problem.” Free & Equal Elections Foundation is a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to creating open and transparent elections that give power back to the individual voter. In October 2012 Free & Equal hosted an open presidential debate, moderated by Larry King and Christina Tobin, which broadcast online and on several cable and radio news outlets, reaching an estimated audience of 20 million.
