The University of Iowa Postdoctoral Association will be hosting the first annual Midwest Postdoctoral Symposium on Friday, May 2, 2014 This is a great opportunity for networking, presenting research, and learning through a line-up of professional and career development talks. The schedule of events includes a keynote address by Dan Reed, Vice President for Research and Economic Development at the University of Iowa. Additional topics include: - Keynote - “Comparing employment in academia and industry” (Dan Reed) - Media promotion and handling media research inquiries - Intellectual Property and Panel discussion on business ventures - Panel discussion on starting as new faculty - Posters/Networking - Postdoctoral research presentations The symposium is free to attend, and we will provide breakfast and lunch. We welcome abstract submissions for poster or oral presentation. Postdocs are welcome to use a recent poster that they may have presented at a professional conference. Both postdoc scholars and postdoc office representatives are welcome to attend.
